Wind Rose, also known as the Dwarves of Heavy Metal, has been making waves in the music industry with their unique blend of heavy metal and fantasy themes. I attended their recent show at a small, intimate venue in Orlando FL and had a blast.
I really enjoyed the show; It seemed like the passionate crowd knew every word of the songs and they were singing right along throughout the performance. The energy and enthusiasm for Wind Rose was incredible.
Claudio Falconcini – guitars, backing vocals, founding member
Before the show, I had the opportunity to sit down with Claudio Falconcini, one of the founders of Wind Rose and their lead guitar player.
We discussed their recent successful US tour, their history and influences, and life on the road. You can see the full interview here:
One cannot talk about Wind Rose without mentioning their viral hit, "Diggy Diggy Hole," which has amassed over 43,000,000 views on YouTube. The catchy tune, inspired by the popular video game Minecraft, has become an anthem for fans around the world.
Claudio shared his thoughts on the unexpected success of the song, saying, "We never expected 'Diggy Diggy Hole' to blow up the way it did. It was a fun project for us, and we are grateful that it resonated with so many people."
Francesco Cavalieri – lead vocals
However, "Diggy Diggy Hole" is not the only song that has garnered millions of views. Wind Rose's discography is filled with hits like "Drunken Dwarves," "Together We Rise," and "The Gates of Ekrund," all of which have captivated fans with their powerful melodies and epic storytelling.
Federico Meranda -- keyboards, founding member
The success of their songs is not limited to YouTube views alone. Wind Rose's albums have also achieved great popularity and success.
Their latest release, "Warfront," received critical acclaim and reached high positions on various music charts worldwide. Brought to you by Napalm Records, Warfront is a must for your playlist.
Claudio shared his excitement about the album's success, saying, "We put a lot of effort into Warfront. From 2020 to 2022 there was Covid so we were not able to do shows. We concentrated only on the album. It came out a really serious album.”
Cristiano Bertocchi – bass, backing vocals
During our conversation, Claudio delved into the band's history and influences. He revealed that Wind Rose was formed in 2009 by a group of friends who shared a passion for heavy metal and fantasy literature. Inspired by bands like Dream Theater and influenced by the epic tales of J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings," Wind Rose set out to create a unique sound that combined the power of heavy metal with the enchantment of fantasy and a little taste of Progressive Metal.
Federico Gatti – drums
When asked about their recent successful US tour, Claudio told me “We didn't expect this warm welcome in the U.S. We are really extremely proud of our fans in the US. We love this country we love playing in this country. (Our fans) really are in love with us and we are in love with them.”
With their infectious melodies, captivating storytelling, and unwavering passion, Wind Rose continues to conquer the heavy metal scene. As they embark on new adventures and create more music, one thing is certain – the Dwarves of Heavy Metal will leave an indelible mark on the world of music and fantasy.
